If it's two (or more) teeth off then it'd be losing a lot of compression even if it has not minced the valves, maybe that combined with the timing being off and it's not firing?
-
• #53
The injectors are firing, we checked that, and the fuel pump is pumping
-
• #54
Yes, but is it fuelling correctly? If it's over fueling, it won't run. I had a similar prob on a Merc and a re-set of the whole system cured it right away.

I can disconnect the battery and leave it overnight, then try to fire it up tomorrow.

Still need a hand?

At a bit of a loss- what do you think could be wrong/have happened?
-
• #58
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Hmmm....

not worked on those engines but.....is there a pip or something on the camshaft pulley that lines up with a mark on the head.....may give you an idea on the timing?
-
• #61
The cams are marked up, I can check the timing- however the car is parked on a roundabout at the moment, so jacking it up, taking off the drivers side wheel (needed to get a big enough spanner on the crank) is not so easy

I asked a mechanic friend of mine, he said it's most likely the computer, probably confused by the engine turning the wrong way. As was suggested above, disconnect the battery until it resets.

Time to get a "one less car sticker"?

Not helpful.
Funny, but not helpful. :-)

Am sure there are car forums that might be able to offer help, rather than using lfgss like a twatter account for updates regarding the volvo.
-
• #67
Volvo is relevant as it is needed to get bikes to the Alps this summer.
Anyway, it's miscellaneous and meaningless, so ner.

Ride there?

Dangerous. There are some very windy sections...

DJ faceplant/palm
Seriously though, I am aware this is in misc, but would you go on a car forum to ask advice on how to fix a bike?
-
• #71
In their Misc & Meaningless section, yes!
-
• #72
Pistonheads has a dedicated cycling sub forum as it happens.
Anyway, why not?
-
• #73
I'd expect better advice on a cycling forum. In the same way I'd expect better car advice on a car forum.
Not sure why, possibly something to do with the name and the interests of the people on each forum.

Are you trying to imply that we are all narrow minded?
ECU fick-up on fuelling? Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset, or doing whatever re-set procedure it has?
