fitted with some rather nice NOS 6500 SPD pedals (which take MTB SPD cleats). Unfortunately they are scratched after one 30 mile ride, but that's just going to get worse, what can you do.

Yeah, they won't look pristine for long, but I've had the A525 and DuraAce versions from new (i.e. over 20 years), and they are still going strong.
