Hey all, I'm wondering whether the old adage 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' applies? Captain Kidd was quiet, in a non-busy area, relatively central with lots of bike parking... how would people feel about making it a regular haunt?

A bit too far for me on a regular basis :-(
I like the idea of a little variety ...

Had been hoping to make it, but an early morning plane made me reconsider.. I'd be up for the next one. Although
My work local is the Wilton Arms, on Kinnerton St.
That used to be my local until they banned us (although on a recent return by a friend the landlord claimed he never did...). So I'd vote against this (if I get a vote!)

Ok I'm going to get a date down - we can decide on the venue in the meantime, maybe a poll is in order. Any objections to Friday 18th Feb? I'll change the thread title if not.

Sounds good, I can tell you all about our trip to 'Dinner With Heston' which is a few days before!

If I can put a word in...
I can go on the 18th (or any friday) if it's not going to be too far from my school in Shoreditch.
I get out of class at half 8 and have to be up early Saturday morning, so as long as I don't have to go too far out of my way I would love to be able to go, otherwise I'm limited to after this term ends in April.

18th is fine for me, and somewhere central would suit.
-
• #135
18th will mean trying to find a babysitter so might not be able to make this one.
Do we need a new thread for those not already looking at this one?

hey all,
I've got an idea - the plough in wc1 is central and has an upstairs section http://www.flickr.com/photos/55935853@N00/2355392501/

Can't see anywhere to lock bikes on streetview though.

It is also a very expensive pub, from memory, both for drinks and food, given its close proximity to the British Museum tourist trap.

I think we should go to Bradleys Spanish Bar and embrace street drinking.
-
• #140
Where's that? Street drinking in Feb? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
• #141
Hanway Street. Its 11 degrees outside, man up! :) Nah its not a real suggestion, I love it, but Bradleys has a special cheap and unsanitary charm best saved for special occasions.

morning ladies
really annoyed I couldn't make it to the last one, so am well up for the 18th! will be nice to meet some more ladies on bikes.
I imagine Katie-Coo would be up for it as well, but her computer died, so will keep her in the loop by pigeon carrier. -

I've had a good idea...Birkbeck student Union bar.
Loads of bike rack stands outside, cheap 2 for 1 drinks, like something silly like £3.50 for 4 drinks until 8pm and even after that it's dead cheap. In all my years of going there, they have never asked for student ID. It does get a bit rammo with University of London staff but if people can get there early and bag tables...there's also two roof terrace areas.
Birkbeck bar is in the main Birkbeck building, just off Malet Street.

That is a good idea, I love the Birkbeck bar!
-
• #145
that IS cheap! is it a weatherspoons?
-
• #146
Nah...it's a student union bar but for some reason they NEVER check for student ID!
-
• #147
Is this going to happen? Hope so! Would start a seperate thread myself but don't want to tread on any toes as it were..
-
• #148
Go for your life Poots, sadly now I can't make the 18th as I'm spending it with my lovely mum.
But go forth and multiply..or somethingnew thread is a good idea!
