I know, now that I am a little older (25) I do seem to get lots more little niggles in arms and legs and when I pick up an injury it takes months to heal. when I was younger I played alot of sports and never really had any muscular injuries other than the odd twisted ankle which could be shaken off in a few days, getting old hurts.

Quid pro quo is that your endurance tolerance increases markedly. Don't think I could have run marathons/ridden centuries in my teens.

I ran a marathon in 2006 (i was 21) since then i've developed a food baby, the other day i made myself go out on foot I nearly died.
has anyone got any suggestions how to get back into the groove?

The only advice I can give is stop thinking about doing it and "just do it".

came 6/ 28 in my 9.1 k forest race yesterday, 68 mins.
when looking at splits between 24 controls,
I was fastest on 6, which means I was winning the race for 25% of the time.
Im getting into the stats thing, does this mean Im a runner? -

Just about to start getting in to running again. Really looking forward to it, I'm going to start off with 2 miles - Is this a good distance? Then work my way up from there.

Sounds like a good starting distance.
Whatever distance you go for, start off slow, and think about your footfalls. You will get further this way. Worry about speed later. -

I'm signing up for the local 1/2 marathon today. I'd love to have another go at the full marathon. But I have zero spare time in my week to prepare. Gonna rope as many people into doing with me as possible.

well that wasn't too bad. still haven't sailed nonchalently past the 5k mark yet but that was the third 3.5k (a loop from the southbank round blackfriars and hungerford bridge) i've done this week and they're getting less horrible, if not exactly enjoyable yet. baby steps.

Ha ha, you have so much pain to look forward to! Even a good hangover lasts me 3 days now and I'm only 33. I've got niggling injuries that have become like family (I don't like them but they're not going away) and I have to work twice as hard to remain half as fit.

At 35 I'm pretty injury proof, despite deluding myself into thinking I can play rugby with the 18 - 25s. I degrade super fast though. Cant have more than 2 or 3 days off my running/cycling/gym sessions without falling apart. I take my running stuff every where I travel, even if its just a weekend, as the climb back to form gets steeper all the time.

I keep going out running, and I have to say I have yet to actually enjoy it- I am always thinking about when it's going to be over.
At what point does it become fun?

You need to htfu - try a 4hr bike ride to run a muddy, hilly 10km Kent League cross-country race and then a 1hr ride home. I'm almost too sore to go out drinking now. Almost.

yes yes, I do,
nuff respect, and room to brag about drinking too, I do need to htfu but then I am 40 now.
did my first 10 k road race today,
43 minutes, the one who never gives up did 39 won her age cat,
I liked the rain and wind, made it feel like I as in terrain like normal.
might get into this running lark
they gave me a bottle of water and a bottle of wine at the end... -

Running to work along the canal tomorrow morning, Camden to Canary Wharf.
What's the running equivalent of DAS?
The path to injury is a short one ;) Good luck.
