i totally understand how amputation seems mad to most people. but if you think about it in the same region as transexuals. sometimes people just don't feel right in their bodies and have to change it to make them feel right outside as they do inside.

It's only society that distinguishes boob jobs as okay, but amputation as a mental illness.

If you said that it was only society that distinguished WANTING a boob job as ok and WANTING an amputation as a mental illness I could see your point.

Doing these things to ones self is a different matter though.
