  • cheapo french build. bb will prob cost me a fortune though.
    will change saddle.

  • What happened to the other Tornado on the forum? The yellow one that had no forks

  • I think it got some forks in the end. The guys found the frame maker and asked him. It was Tel who owns it if I remember right.

  • I love that aero nose on that Tornado. Been trying to find a beige/yellow track frame that had that same nose, anyone?

  • custom painted leader 735tr?

  • The Ribble is nearly there, parts-wise anyway. Just quickly put it together to see where I'm at, and I guess I'll get round to properly building it up when I get a free Sunday. Need to replace the Sugino cranks but that will have to wait until I have moneys. Black bar-tape too, although I don't mind the blue.

  • BTW Here is a pic of the rather unusual handlebar. Like the integralter road bar its a alter stem based bar made for internal cablerouting. Actually its also made for regular roadversion brakeleveres which you would use at the time.

Edit: Bit weird also. Its made for 1" threadless which was the revolution back then in 2000.

  • its a wee bit small.

Understatement of the day. I think you've probably got your saddle too high, so getting fitted properly would reduce the comedy element of it. If you're going racing, you might find putting 20mm of spacers under the elbow rests and losing the same from the spacer stack under the 'stem' makes the balance between positions on the Angel bars better.

  • ^^ Haj ownes the Tornado.. Which is proper crazy..

  • Haj, that's the one, not Tel.

  • custom painted leader 735tr?

No it was actualy a well made 80s or 90s frame. Should be somewhere on my harddrive, but Im shure I saw it here first.

I know. Its small, but the length of the frame and bar is actually alright I think. Its not ridden in though. I only had a roll up and down the road on dry day here in the winter, so thats why it might look ekstra odd setup wise. Thanks anyway, I'll give your tips a go.

  • First build, made with parts from many lovely forumers. I'm trying to get the saddle/bars positioning right:

    Apologies for crappy phone picture.

Had a Charge saddle on there which was really uncomfortable, so have swapped for trusty old Brooks B17. The handlebars are a stretch to reach, so on the advice of the lovely folks at Brixton Cycles I might try flipping the bars over backwards. I was also thinking of trying belleville or porteur bars. Or maybe I should just put the saddle a bit higher?

  • ^^ Haj ownes the Tornado.. Which is proper crazy..

I bought mine off Haj. ;) He seems to have a way of getting a hold of all these rather weird Tornado frames.

  • TheorySwine, I almost bought that frame (something else caught my eye here at the end)
Looking forward to seeing the photos here after respray.

  • @mortari Try putting the saddle horizontal before raising the height. As for the bars try a stumpy stem on there first. Also, get some foot retention

  • hi! this is my first fixed gear built (not my first project).
I used Easton tubes (aluminium scandium... very light). I draw the geometry of the frame and than Valdemiro (a great Portuguese frame maker) did this:

I love the cannondale track frame (i'm an old fan of cannondale... alot of BTT with one). You will understand why i said this.
Than i "spent" alot of hours preparing for the paint job. The reason of it was the weldings...

Than i applied the "aparelho" (sorry! I don't know the english word for it)

It was time to work on the color. I spent 2 days trying to make/find the one i like. My ideia was to make a "dark" bike with black stickers. Grey it was (3 blacks, 1 yellow, 1 brown, 1 white).

here i show you how the bike was built at first

than with a gipiemme tecno wheel

I never rode a fixie before... i had to spend some weeks with this "bullhorn"
Now i have the bike with a track handlebar

a zoom of the welding look

the bike is not finished. I want to change the pedals and the cranks
i have to wait for better days (€) :)

  • Spent tonight making some shoe protectors for my clips. Hopefully they'll help make my shoes last a bit longer than usual! Really easy to make and look good with the SAG straps (maybe should have used black twine, but thought the white/black would match).

  • ^^Those pedals look great pal. Fine job.

  • yea good effort

plus an exceptional rug you got there!

  • Hopefully, the postman will treat me to everything I need to complete the GT tomorrow!

  • That really is very lovely.

Looks nice! I love Gitanes. You can get a sealed french BB from velo orange, loose ball cups from campoldy, or someone was selling a NOS dura ace one on here somewhere...
