steal bike
take pics and make note of frame no and give to intimidating accomplice.
sell obviously stolen bike to unscrupulous punter.
punter walks off, accomplice follows punter, away from point of sale confronts punter saying that's my bike the frame no is blah, give it back or I'll call the police and you'll get done for handling stolen goods.
unscrupulous punter shits themselves and gives back bike
thieves sell bike to next punter etc.
the way I see it if they were busy re-selling the same bike they wouldn't have to steal as many and the bulk of the loss would be shifted onto the wankers who buy stolen bikes and fuel the trade. win/win. there's also more chance you'd see your bike at the markets as they'd go through a couple of times. perhaps we should organise a sit-down with the thieves and run it past them.
