legrottaglie, Mexes are both free agents in the summer, and have a wealth of experience in europe.
Mertesacker, Albiol, Sakho, Cahill are all in my opinion talented defenders at the right stage of their career to improve our defence.
You're right about the money and wages, but we do not have 4 fit defenders, and Squillaci fills me with as much confidence as Stepanovs!
Are Liverpool really gonna swap Torres out, and bring in Andy Carroll?! How about we loan you Bendtner and you loan us Torres...
