I got barred about 10 years ago, never been back. It still seems to do reasonable business, although few of the aficionados rate it very highly. My serious recommendation if you like that sort of thing is the White Horse, based on the fact that the girls slag off the management of every other strip joint but go out of their way to say how much they like working at the WH.
Fucken hell...

How come the numbers on a phone start with 1,2,3 on the top row, and going downwards, and its the opposite way on a calculator?
*
"The reason that the keypad of keyboards and calculators are different is that the first security keycodes had been invented before the touchtone telephone, and did not require the extra + - % / keys and so the touch tone adopted this 1 ,2 ,3 at the top rather than 1 ,2 ,3 at the bottom as it too only required 12 keys."*

For printophiles/hipsters innit.
Some people go all gooey at the sight of slightly wonky print punched out of a typewriter. Its edgy/tactile/tangible/nostalgic..
A bit like Letraset rubdowns, fucking hot they are.
Or letter press. I love that sort of thing. Of course, don't make it wonky just for the sake of it. Just use it normally and with a bit of skill you'll get good results.

Any recommendations for a decentish pub/bar to go to near Old St roundabout to go to before a night out? Somewhere not totally rammed is a plus point.
May be a little too late to answer the question now, but I'd always go to the Wenlock Arms in that area. Not 'near' if you're on foot, but fine by bike.

speak to your land lord. If you help find a suitable tenant I they would / should be very happy. If not you might be able to come to some other arrangement like two months notice or something else.
thanks, will see what they say

preparing my bike for work i noticed the rear wheel was rather untrue. i trued it up okish (+/-2mm verical and lateral) as i'm shit at these things, the spokes were still pretty loose so tension them all 3/4 turn in 1/4 turn increments. most are fine but 3 were super super loose and had about 2mm thread showing where the others had none. i tightened these to about the same ension as the rest of the spokes, wheel seems ok. is this ok? going to get it tensioned and trued professionally at somepoint but in the meantime will it be ok?
thanks

Yeh, this is generally the right thing to do. By tightening the really loose spokes you're relieving the stress from the overall structure. Just bear in mind that for this to happen means that the wheel probably wasn't that well made to start with and some considerable fatigue could have easily occurred already at the spoke shoulders. You'll find out in a couple of months if it's time for a new wheel when it starts busting spokes left right and centre.

How many times do you have to wrap bar tape before it looks as if you know what you're doing with the stuff?

uhhhh it got to this stage thru my own stupidity which ended with the rear wheel being ridden over and then me ignoring the problem (loose spokes) for a few weeks. the front wheel is the same parts (condor hub x condor open pro copy, 32h), built by condor, and is absolutely fine, so was the rear until my, ahem, faux pas.

Stop doing that!

Any more than twice and it starts to look a bit thick...

i'm not sure the mexicos are worth as much as their counterparts in the range at the time (moskva, barcelona, atlanta), and I saw a pair go on ebay for £50, but they were very badly listed and the picture was blurred.
sorry that doesn't answer your question, i don't know the answer.

Aha, well it should at least last you a little while still. How was it ridden over?

If you're gifted, once. If you're retarded, you'll probably never do a decent job. Most of us are somewhere between the two, but you should be able to make an acceptable go of it first time if you pay attention, do your research and don't rush.

Does anybody know a cheap courier service for sending large parcels around the UK?
I remember I knew a parcelforce reseller that would collect and send 15kg large (bike size) parcels for only £3 but it shut down (presumably semi illegal).
Is there anything like this that still exists?
I just want to post a heavy 27" bike wheel right now.

This still cracks me up:
Loved doing bartape, it's for me, the last thing I need to do on my bike, just a quiet evening with wine, soft light, sofa, and spend all night taping the mother up.

ok so my pcs screen output is DVI-D 18+1 pin. I bought a new screen that has vga input and hdmi input. I have found two adapters that will work, one outputs into vga and one outputs into HDMI. Basically what I'm wondering is, if i get the output adapter for converting into hdmi will the quality be any better than in VGA?
Also does having a converter cause any input lag?btw they're both the same price and i have a spare hdmi cable.
I can post links to the ones im still deciding between if its needed. Thanks for any help

Assuming it's not a CRT display then yes, because there is no digital to analogue conversion if you go DVI-HDMI, and you never need the signal to be analogue for LCD screens. If you squirt VGA into a digital display, you're reliant on the quality of the internal analogue to digital converter.
There is inevitably a tiny amount of latency in any conversion process, but it's much too small to notice, being measured in μs at most.
yeah, but they were too long, and I didn't like the raised bit at the sealed end.
