  • It has been so long since I've had a puncture that I'm beginning to build an irrational fear of them! When I do finally get one (hopefully this will tempt fate so that I can get some practice) it is bound to take me ages to fix. I think I need a puncture to get this out of my system.

A conservative estimate is that I have gone well over 3,000mi since my last puncture. I was running Conti Gatorskins for most of the time but put some Marathon Pluses on a few weeks ago when the Gatorskins wore out. Given the crap on the roads on my commute (Deptford to Camden) this really must be sheer luck.

Aaaah thank fuck for that! FInally got a puncture on my racer while on a fifty miler on Thursday morning. Small shard of flint straight into front tube like a pin. Strong winds and sleet.

Took five minutes to fix which was a relief. Was glad to be wearing glove liners so I could keep my hands warm.

Now I've probably tempted fate too much...I'll be getting one every 25 miles from now on!
