  • I am going climbing in the Alps this summer- currently I have Ksyrium Elite's.

What would be a good upgrade in terms of wheels?

And how stupid would a pair of Carbone SL's be?

    Chopper's back is Wahey!

Keep the Ksyrium Elites - they have steel spokes and are therefore not handicapped by resembling a turbine fan.

Hed Ardennes or Zipp 101 would be an upgrade, but I doubt that the difference is worth £600 to £1100

Cosmic Carbone SL should probably be left at home if you're going climbing, although they have a good reputation as a strong and fast wheel for flat races.

  • I've been told thaat my Zipp 440's are too flexi for crits compared to my OpenPros. Could it really make that much of a difference?

  • i currently have open pros on chris king hubs with sapim bladed spokes - as a general purpose/hill climbing wheel. is there anything else i could consider? am not really planning on racing, just sportives, possibly paris roubaix at some point and holidays of hill climbing

  • The red lines on the diagram below should diverge at 4° to 8°, as shown they are at only 3°30'

    Fncking genius. :-)))

    That's my weekend fixed.

  • New H plus TB14. This is going to solve a lot of problems i think. Black, Grey or polished.

  • Very nice! Exactly what I've been after! TFG I presume? Prices?

  • Not sure on pricing yet - only due for release late Feb.
You can be assured we'll have them as soon as they're available though.

  • Nice one Jammy! I'll see you then:)

  • From their blog:

    Width: 23 mm

    Drillings: 28 32 36

Bah. 40 and 48 hole would be nice. Moon on a stick please.

48 would be silly, they are clearly not for tricksters or tandemists, but you're right about 40; plenty of retro bikes need 32/40, not 36/36.

  • Of course, if you want boxy, silver, 23mm rims, there is already this

  • Wowzers

  • never knew colnago also put their decals on alan stuff

  • Or Vitus.

  • indeed. is that a double down tube I see?

  • Yes, been sold on ebay about 1/ 2 years ago.
Got all nago works in the lugs, not the first alan/vitus like Colnago I've seen tho.

  • Someone here has one in fact. Someone from Sweden, if memory doesn't fail me.

  • I don't think so. But interesting, with lovely Tune cranks;

That is a stunning frame but it needs those new H+Son TB14 rims laced to some polished lo-flange Dura-ace for me. I'd go for black cloth tape and a black Brooks B17 on it too. The stem kills it a little bit too, Not too bad but maybe a nice polished lugged stem.
