I reposted this chart in Brum, to try to encourage some of the newer players to drop their gears. They're all making the same mistake I made, trying to make their bike road-practical.
Around 40" is pretty much bang on in my opinion. We have the biggest court I've played on in brum and it's still not too low. If I was playing Downham, I'd go a bit lower. 1" either way is not really noticeable.
However, it depends if you're a masher or spinner in real life. Muddy/XC 90s mountain biking made me a spinner. If you're new to cycling or commute on a high fixed gear, you may be more of a masher.
