Of course we do (although I dont see how explaining the rules is necessarily bitching). Go back and read the middle of this very thread, where we explained about teams and subs to Heythrop at the start of the season when none of them had played before. You can use this handy link to Jono's explanation and the discussion that followed it.

Sure, you can argue that its not specifically written in the rules this year. However, theres a ton of things that arent in there because theyre so fucking basic that none of us thought to include them. How many years have we had a league? And we still have to specify what constitutes a "team"? Whats really interesting about the above link is that, even though its not "written in the rules", everyone just read it and agreed with it because thats just how it works.

You know what? I'm disappointed for polo, because now we have to write this shit down for next year. More fucking rules. With another fucking rules poll or ten. Awesome.

B, read through the last few pages again. What are people asking for? Set aside any personal attacks or shit-talking, and read the actual points.

People want you to pick a 2nd player, who persists for the rest of the league, then you have 2/3, which is 'the done thing' as em missed it from the rules this year. after that you can just choose whoever you want.

maybe you should consider actually just doing that, and stop responding to posts on here which serves no purpose than to make you and everyone else more angry or look more ridiculous.

Felix wasn't up to it. Aidan quit, Dave broke his leg, Apples spilt, shit happens, and i guarantee that if i was bottom of the table nobody would give a hoot.

In the end I decided I wouldn't sub for anyone else though, which seemed to be in the spirit of the rules.

Of all people I would think you would be more careful than most on here, Louis, to actually read what people say rather than jumping on a bandwagon. So let me break it down for you.

Three people asked Brendan, in a very kind and friendly way, if he would please consider picking two permanent people to play with for the playoffs. Everyone has let him play so far without bitching. Then Brendan got took it all personally in his standard egomaniacal way, and he began the bitching. Then I responded in kind. It went out of control from there, a*fter Brendan responded in a hostile way to three friendly suggestions.

*The rules from three years ago are relevant because I said that I am aware this rule is not in the rules for the league this year, but we have a long tradition of allowing only one sub per team. Then Brendan said "tradition blah blah dick move." The whole time I had been searching for the rules from previous leagues to demonstrate this is a tradition rooted in an actual rule at some point. I found this documentation and posted it. I believe if you read closely you will see friendly suggestions to Brendan, followed by me defending myself from overblown, personalized attacks by Brendan.

But it seems to me that many people here are more interested in focusing on imagined connotation and subcontext rather than carefully reading what people say.

Nobody has ever, not even one time, bitched about what has happened so far in this league with subbing. We are only talking about trying to have some consistency in the playoffs.

i don't have a single problem with it jono, i'm pointing out the hairs that have been split or not as it were.

I guess it's out of the question to ask people to be reasonable. Brendan, how about you agree to find one player who'll finish the season with you, without having to say who right now. Then you can sub whoever in for the 3rd spot. That would be the best solution within the 'spirit' of the league.

If you don't agree, then I'll leave you guys to fight to the death and destroy the league and the forum.

Brendan, I think the point is, you're not 'agreeing', you're saying 'it's likely', that's not the same thing.

Whether I'm a league player is totally irrelevant. You're simply trying to invalidate my input, when all I am doing is trying to be constructive. You can keep trying to undermine myself, and everyone else's points, but at the end of the day, you're the one who's keeping the argument alive by being so defensive, and aggressive. It's tedious.
