Is anyone running a SA hub brake? I've got one, and I'm thinking of building it up into a front wheel, but I've heard they aren't as responsive as other brake types, and even that they can fail under emergency braking... Having never ridden one, I'm hoping for advice on whether they're any good.

They're not as 'direct' as other brake, but it's very reliable in all weather condition and easy to look after, I never adjusted mine for 6 months, it's lovely being able to slow down in wet weather without the brake being affected by it.

I rode with one for a while, with both front and rear brake, they work perfectly fine, but if you rode with a front only singlespeed, you'll find that it may take a while to slow down (the modulation can be adjusted, but if you set it very responsive - it won't spin that smoothly).
