Did your bike get stolen last night? (found charge mixer)

At which point you may discover the owner has already reported the bike stolen and you may bent of pocket.

Not a great result, hope that a better resolution is achieved.

But (and Nikola please don't think I'm having a pop - because I'm certainly not) if I was the owner and I'd done the right thing by reporting the theft to the fuzz, I'd hope that anyone who had my bike would have handed it in. If I then discovered that said person had an on the spot decision to make and had paid 60 quid out to get it, then I guess I'd sort them out too.

Also, am I not right in thinking that any 'lost property' handed to the police by a member of the public is by rights the property of that person, should they want it after a certain period of time has passed? (I was rather pointlessly offered a pair of prescription glasses which I handed in once).
