something about the cockney pearly suit pictures reminds me of the mummers - these are real tough south philly guys that get dressed up each year on new years day and have a parade through the city, and i'd say they're philadelphia's equivalent to cockney culture. but one day of the year, these big tough guys, they look like this....
it's awesome!
and nikola........ it's pretty clear that everybody whose opinion is worthwhile wants to give you a high five.

There are so few cultures that don't enjoy dressing up like tarts....

After all the accusations and insinuations this thread has become hard to follow.
From what I can see Nikolai was well intentioned by buying the bike. Cue many posters slagging off - you shouldn't put money in the thief's pocket etc
Maybe I missed it but what should have been done? I've seen posts saying phone the police but reading through the thread it didn't seem that would have helped in this situation i.e. opportunist sale where the thief would have fucked off sharpish.
My thoughts are as follows but would be good to see how others think the best way to handle this is. In other words try and provide advice rather than criticism.
Maybe try to stall the thief? Need to go to cash point - meet back here in 5 mins? And then phone the cycle task force rather than police?
Can someone post the cycle task force number as I want to put it in my phone.

What this thread needs is more people reading the thread and not understanding why the things in the thread happened and then posting in the thread asking people why the things in the thread happened and then people explaining why the things that happened in the thread happened. That would make this thread better.

The cycle task force will not arrive in five minutes! Neither would any police.

I can't believe Nikolai is getting such a hard time. If it had been my bike that was nicked she'd have been my friend for life for what she did.

Don't worry, Nikolai is ready for any hard time going.
Oh..you meant the OP..
btw does anyone really believe he couldn't have sparked out Haye if he wanted to?

It truly demonstrates the randomness of the web, when a well-intentioned plea for a bike's rightful owner ends up in a discussion about race and Pearly Kings/Queens.
Yes Nikola bought a stolen bike, but all things considered, if it had been anyone on here's pride and joy, something they'd saved a long time for and lovingly built up, I'd say they'd be over the moon that someone had the foresight to buy it instead of it being sold on to someone perhaps a little less appreciative of a good bike.
Ideally there would've been a copper walking by at the precise time the thief offered the bike, but hey, if they were that plentiful, maybe the theft wouldn't have happened in the first place.
Well done Nikola.

I was more confused about Rupert Beart with a Rabbits head.
Bollocks. I said Paddington, when I obviously meant Rupert.
