  • I took my mother to see The King's Speech on Saturday.

It was her birthday, and I knew my dad wouldn't fancy a film like that, so I got him off the hook and took her to the cinema.

I really enjoyed the film. Colin Firth was really good, and Geoffrey Rush was awesome, in my opinion. The cinematography was excellent - the outdoor shots were eerie and really captured the strange tension of the build up to war.

It was pretty funny too, which doesn't really come across in the trailers. I might not opt to see it at the cinema, if the choice was up to me, but it's definitely worth a watch.

Ta Lucy. I quite fancy watching it now. I have no reservations about watching Mister Darcy if he's in a good film. He's a very good actor who's been in plenty of interesting stuff apart from Bridget Jones or whatever (although I though A Single Man was overrated). I look forward to it.

Saw Black Swan on Saturday afternoon. It's... I dunno. I enjoyed it I think. I think I enjoyed it despite quite a lot of stuff including a the rather OTT direction Vincent Cassel's apalling (was it supposed to be apalling? I don't know.) script. Read a review that said it could be renamed "Tutu goes mental" or something which just about sums it up. "Two hours in the head of a hallucinating, derranged and paranoid ballet dancer". Would be slightly more accurate. I enjoyed it... I think.
