Right. There is a film I've been trying to find out the name of for years.

I can't remember the entire plot, or anyone who was in it, which i know is a good start, but I can remember a lot of other details.

It was set in 50's-ish suburban america, the main character was a teenage boy that either worked at, or was friends with the guy that ran the local cinema. There was scene with the two people in the cinema rigging up seats with buzzers as a gimmick for a horror movie.
At some point there was a dream sequence where the boy walked through his house to the front door, opened it and saw a nuclear explosion in the distance, so I think him being afraid of that was throughout the movie, and then, in the final scenes I'm sure there were bad guys in the cinema that were scarred off by a fake fire or explosion that came from the cinema screen (another new 3d gimmick using two projectors if i remember correctly). Other than that all i know is that I watched it on TV about 10 years ago, late one night.

I thought that was going to be enough to find it, but I can't.

So there is a little challenge for any movie boffins on here.
