Went to Eduardes. One guy and the vice couldnt get that 22t away from the hub. Then two of them couldnt. Sprayed with some lube or another, left for a few minutes, then the two of them got it loose with a lot of brute force. So I have it for the Heythrops.
It was somewhat reassuring to know that it wasnt just me being a scrawny weakling not being able to get it off...

Whoever updated the results on the league site, it was 2 wins for JAK, and 1 for Dogma or Pie, not the other way round...

Tuesday 25th January @ newington
If anyone has big fixed cogs lying about they could donate to a newbie team looking to bring there GI down to polo level would ace! Anyone, anyone?
I slept in a bit today so didnt have time to go to Newington before I went to work.
Gormley, if you want that 22t cog for the Tuesday game, PM me your address, I'll post it in your letterbox during the day on Monday.

I think Spring Break are playing Heythrop at Newington at 7 so we could play just after them (7:30 ish) and then all go for pizza and a pint after?

Teams will automatically know which other teams they have to play. The top 3 in each division will all play each other, and likewise for the middle three and bottom three. Let's simply give a deadline of when the playoffs need to be finished (say, five or six weeks) and let the teams figure out when they can play each other.
Thoughts?
So, there were a couple of concerns, but no one has strongly objected to this. Is there consensus to make the playoff period six weeks, with teams being able to play any other team in their bracket at any time of their choosing, and having to finish all their games by the end of the sixth week?

I like this way of doing it.
Also, Brendo.. i know its been a bit crazy for you but, i think you should pick two players and stick with them for the playoffs, for the sake of fairness.

Yeah, Brenden, would you consider picking two people to be regular players for the playoffs? That would be cool. There has been a long tradition, and rules in previous years of the league, I think, that you have to have two players from your three-person team to make it legit/legal. We've all been pretty accommodating for you, and it hasn't been a problem, but it would be cool if you tried to have at least one regular player, two if possible, for the playoffs. Cheers mate.

i don't see how it makes it 'unfair' if i don't. In fact its probably more detrimental to swop around. Nobody can replace aidan and dave. As far as i'm concerned they were the two best players in london.

there's no constant, not everybody is going to play the same line up?
Hypothetical example,
sick zombie played: Em, Brendan, Dt
degeneration played: Brendan, jonny, slamm
No offence to players mentioned, but imo, its clear that one side is made up of better players. So one team, plays an 'easier' line up than the other team. Is that fair?

I totally agree with this way of doing, it, but I think 6 weeks is probably too short, on the basis that some people are struggling to play 2 games in 4 weeks, so 5 in 6 weeks is probably asking too much. Maybe 8 weeks?
Also what about a couple of playoff weekend days at Newt, try and get as many teams down as possible, and just get through as many games as possible in one day, obviously with throwins on the side.

you think i'm going to to field a 'weaker' line up? Er yeh. I am very likely to play with the same two people anyway always had intended to, because it would be fair to those two people. What i think is unfair is that you guys somehow have it in your head that this disadvantages YOU. So you word it like i'm cheating or being unsportsmanlike in the long tradition blah blah which is a dick move. I played with different people because of scheduling and the fact i thought it would be fun. I didnt try to tactically play with diff people. Quite frankly, its not in the rules and you can mind your own business.

I think it is everyone's business who they have to play against. I'm not trying to piss you off here B, I'm sure no-one is, but people are trying to win the league. It's useful to know who you are going to play a while before a fixture, so you can suss them out, watch them play some games and figure out how you are going to play them.
It's not about inconveniencing anyone, it's just the way most other teams have been lining up against each other.
-
• #1747
Yep, definitely not trying to piss you off/call you a cheater/or call you unsportsmanlike. Just trying to make sure its a level playing field for all involved.
-
• #1748
everyone knows everyone in london i dont think you need to suss anyone out. I also don't think that me and dudes' are going to win, although that would be nice.
-
• #1749
I would prefer the playoffs to be a six week period no more. Just so we can finish the winter league and move onto some tourneys or mini summer leagues. People could play double headers too.
