@ Titivulus, thanks for that, this is just the sort of thing I was after.
I did see that link and watched a bit of the video. That route does look a bit lumpy, definately gears or do you think its manageable on 50/16? Is Canonbie Road as steep as it gets? I've never been up that road but may go over and reccy it to test it out.
OK it seems ages away but I will put me name down and decide on approriate steed later.
