Some news.
T.J.Cycles which has always been Trevor Jarvis Cycles (of the famous Flying Gate design) is handing over the main work to his new apprentice, Jeremy Cartwright. Trevor Jarvis is now 75 years old, and deserves to put his feet up a bit. Production should not be affected. http://www.tjcycles.co.uk/index.htm
I've deleted Witcomb Bicycles, till they are ever officially re-established. Thanks Tony. Bastard.

Hi all,
I'm trying to get an internship in a bike or human-powered-vehicle company - trying to find companies in the UK that design and manufacture their own bikes complete (rather than buying frames that other companies have designed).
Here's what I've got so far:
Pashley/Moulton
Brompton
Charge
Create
Mic Wic
Isla Bikes
Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative (haven't done much research into them and how they work as a company, it could all be bought-in bits and pieces for all I know, and at the bikes' price I would expect that it is run like that)
Karbon Kinetics (make the GoCycle)I'm also trying to get contact details for Carrera who are the Halfords own brand, although I imagine their bikes are bought-in.
I've got dozens of contacts for companies in the Netherlands and Germany, as well as quite a few in the US and Australia, but obviously internships are often unpaid (especially in smaller companies) so unless companies are willing to pay my expenses it's probably going to be difficult to work abroad (basically impossible in the US or Australia). Any help would be appreciated

lae, Create didn't design their own frame, (before it was the unipack), it's likely that they copied the geometry of the Charge Plug.
Don't forget Condor, On-one and Boardman.

Yeah I wasn't sure about Create. Plus they only have one model so even if they did design their bike completely I doubt they have much designing going on at all. I'll still write to them but I'd rather go somewhere else anyway.
Forgot about On-one! The others are on my list but they lean towards performance bikes whereas I'm leaning towards utility bikes. I wouldn't say no to them though!

It's a road bike with integrated seatpost and full internal cabling. Will litter the site with pics when it arrives.

Yeah, it tracks down the downtube, hooks under the BB axle in a wee little tube, then shoots up to the mech.

Wouldn't hybrid classified as utility bike, on-one have a wide range of build to suit all need and so does condor (build to order).

Yeah it would, I'm just more interested in car replacement type bikes. Bakfiets type stuff.
I picked up a copy of Cycling Plus and found a few more UK manufacturers/designers that make a wide range of models.

I'm writing to Windcheeta but Mike Burrows himself seems to be untraceable.
Also just got an email from someone I contacted through the university who worked with (and is a personal friend of) Alex Moulton and should be getting me a 'foot in the door' with him and Moulton/Pashley, so to speak. Pretty scary stuff!

Donhou looks interesting... Only two bikes on the site so far, but a few more visible in a photo on the site. Look forward to seeing it sparky! What tubeset you going to get?

That's quite possibly the best advice I've heard in donkey's age!

Does anyone know if T.J. Quick is still in biz?
Cheers
No. Not 'very' at all.
