  • I asked this on the other thread but will ask again just in case- has anyone any experience with marking a package "repair"?

  • Did it work?

  • everytime. If there's no receipt signalling a sale....

  • i wouldnt worry about tax... the guy is really helpful with it and marks the stuff low value if you ask. japanese postal service is locktight so only royal fail can screw it up. i imported 5 items from them (nothing huge like rims or frames) and payed 19 pounds in postal charges. so even if that was only one pair of hubs you have saved a fair whack...

I deal with the US and even if stuff is sent as warranty replacement and has a value on it I get charged VAT and Duty. For warranty stuff I get them to mark it down at value of 1c.

  • I'd only order from OS if it worked out far cheaper even with all the duty and courier charges factored in. Far cheaper. I don't want to be dealing with the US if they forget something or if I need to warranty bits. Plus, you should be supporting your local stores. Come and look at these cranks Dammit, you tax dodger, you.

  • Might manage tomorrow afternoon Hippo, I'll let you know.

  • Dammit. Did you buy from them and did you get stung for customs. I am just about to order a set of Grand Mighty Cranks?

  • bump...

I'm quite keen to order some bits from them but want to know what the score is with the import duty. Anyone ordered from them and lived to tell the tale?

  • Like everything from overseas, the HM Revenue will charge anything above a commercial value of £36, I'm not sure about the % but, let's say a £300 item will be taxed at around 30/40squid.

  • Yeah, about 10% ;)

  • I have had issues with Parcelforce holding packages at their depot and charging a "Handling fee".

  • I have had issues with Parcelforce holding packages at their depot and charging a "Handling fee".

Yeah, they put that together with the Tax from HM, around a tenner, they say it's for the handling esp. if it's a bike frame. Cunts.

  • It's not the handling fee that gets me, it's that you have to travel to some shithole depot to pay the fucking thing. DELIVER my goods you fucks! That's what we pay for.

  • But if they deliver to you, you'll have to ay an extra £12 (case of a bike box).

  • ParcelForce = bloodsuckers.

  • So, to precis.

Rene @ Track Supermarket = nice guy who sells good Japanese stuff at captive audience prices.

ParcelForce = bunch a shyster, bloodsucker bastards.

  • Problem is that anything coming from Japan, comes with EMS, which automatically within the UK is ParcelForce covered. No way around it.
I think everything within the UK is Parcelforce covered. (Apart from Fedex/UPS/DHL...)

  • What parcelforce do it actually illegal

  • I got a Dura Ace front hub and Hoshi spokes from Rene. Didn't get any customs charges.

  • I've had so many arguments in the ParcelForce Depot, in Camden, there's never a similar situation for me.
Never paid the same amounts on anything, even if priced the same, it's always more 'something' than the
last time.... they're cunts. And if you do anything there, that brakes their standards, they just shut you up.
Say you're being rude and they don't have to deal with you. Standards!?...lol.
I've been asked to leave the premises with my Missus, for refusing to pay the 'handling fee', because
    I'm personally collecting my stuff.
    Another name in the list.

  • Rene is cool.
Gabe, at NJS export, won't do anything as gift though.

  • Parcel Farce are scum on the earth; I'd rather ride crankless.

I did get a genuine repair part for a pushchair sent from the states (from where I got the thing without Duty in the first place). It came with a receipt for 0 stating warranty replacement.

It took 3 months for Customs and Excuses to release it, and even then it was after threatening to judicially review them. They wanted £60 Duty on Christ knows what basis.

  • You all talk such rubbish some time. You are all just bitter because stuff is cheaper abroad. Grow up.

This is what you WILL pay

Work out the cost with the Customs Calculator

Add the Parcelforce handling fees of either £13.50 or £8 depending on the service it was sent with (providing you pay your parcels within 10 days)

They send you a letter with the total, you pay it online and they send on your parcel the next day, what is the problem?

(No, I don't work for parcelforce)

How does any of that relate to parcelforce? Your beef is with customs, who have the legal right to charge any amount they wish on anything entering this country from abroad.
