After Brick lane market check out Bikeshed as mentioned already.

  • Any one lost a Litespeed Siena fixed gear with dura ace stuff? This listing seems dodgy to me.

"Selling as son has moved abroad and doesn't want it"
"Built to Order - From Litespeed, cost over £3,000.00"

    what i thought was strange was that he clearly says its his sons then later on he says;
*"Does have engraved panel with my name on it which can be removed"*

I did some hunting and found the original listing. which the description is copied from. The odd thing I thought was that if he's selling it for his son (presumably the original account it was listed on), why is that account still selling things, namely expensive looking watches? surely you'd list it on the account with good feedback and that you originally listed it on.
    also:

    • the seller only has one feedback for buying some swan filters
    • only been registered since the 13/1/11
    • its 99p with 10 hours to go, only two bids from the same person.
    • the shipping period is 18-20 days from a uk address
    • the original listing has more photos, making me think that the new Lister has just taken the one from the old listing, you can't easily download the other ones.

I might be reading into this a bit much, just doesn't seem 100% to me. its a expensive bike to let go for 99p

EDIT: The listing has been taken down just after i posted this, and their account was closed down.

  • a brown surly steamroller around 54 or 56cm in bricklane market for sale with sugino crankset this morning, the guy asking for 65 pounds . very dodgy

i think josh's bike is black

    Josh's Steamroller is brown.

  • ^^ Listing removed

yeah I've put the link for the sellers (now closed) profile up.

  • Nicked! Anyones?

How do you know it's nicked?

  • Anybody lost 4 unbranded folding bikes still in their boxes? Just been offered them for £120 each on Deptford High Street. One I saw was silver.

  • Call the cops on that one Stonehedge.

  • Will do so this morning. The bloke knows me by face and lives locally though...hope they handle this well!

  • sounds like the classic carpets rolled up on the back of a van sale. are you sure they're even worth 120.00

    http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?LH_BIN=1&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=1&_nkw=fold%20up%20bicycle&_fln=1&_ssov=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282

    just saying.

  • "a brown surly steamroller around 54 or 56cm in bricklane market for sale with sugino crankset this morning, the guy asking for 65 pounds . very dodgy"

A cop phoned me on Sunday asking for more info on my frame as he'd spotted this one. They did a frame check and it hadn't been reported stolen so wasn't mine.
Went to check it out as it was the correct size. As I got there (was only up the road when he called) a girl had just bought it for £70.00. I was gutted. Offered her 100 notes there and then but she turned it down.
Can't believe how good the cops have been in keeping in contact about potential leads on my ride. Seriously good job from the cycle task force.

    le dodgy me thinks.

In reply to this post. This is my bike which I am trying to sell.
I have never told anyone that it is my son's. I do not have a son. This bike was built through Litespeed when I owned Up and Running based in East Sheen SW14. The bike was order through Chris Hewings the rep at Litespeed. Dave Taylor put it all together, (he is now a mechanic at Sigma sport). Posts like these can be very damaging when you have on facts what so ever. The bike also has a £1500.00 reserve not a .99p as suggested.

  • "colour"

  • i was there on sunday and spotted that surly around the side of the sellers van. it looked suspect being placed out of sight. i was going to say something to the seller but decided not to.

  • load of old bullshit.

    that's strange isn't it, my eyes saw "I'm selling this bike for my son as he's moving abroad" in the listing you took down but apparently they straight up lied to me, must have said;
"I have never told anyone that it is my son's. I do not have a son. and I am mentioning this for no reason other to prove than I don't have a son"
    and I clean misread it.

The bike also has a £1500.00 reserve not a .99p as suggested.

Again my eyes are playing tricks on me because I could have sworn that there were two bids on it and no reserve. Which might be explained by you starting another account and bidding £1500 on it yourself.

Posts like these can be very damaging when you have on facts what so ever.

All you had to do was come on here and post a message with a plausible story explaining the 'truth' and I would have rescinded my comment. Instead you instantly deleted both the listing and the account which makes you look very dodgy.

If its your bike give me plausible answers these questions three and I will happily say sorry and retract everything I've said:
1.Why did you need to start an new account to list it? The original account it was listed on still has active listings so it obviously still works.

    1. Why did you remove the listing and delete the account as soon as you saw this?
    2. why did you lie about not saying you were selling it for your son? Don't say you didn't say that because I saw it written down.
  • Right, another fucking bike bites the dust. Nicked from the cupboard in my block of flats on Homerton High St - trying to dig out a picture, but a description for now -

    • armourtex'd a kind of petrol blue with sparkle frame, unknown 531, no braze-ons on TT, with chrome chainstay (with sparkle over the chrome)
    • miche wheelset - black (and dirty) hubs and rims with silver braking surface, silver spokes, (front is showing lots of wear)
    • silver campag xenon front brake
    • straight black bars with black oury grips and black no-name brake lever
    • campag 135bcd silver chainset
    • EAI 18t rear cog
    • no-name black seatpost/white saddle (cheap, concor shape)
    • mks sylvan pedals - with mismatching straps (one Ale single/one black double)
    • rear SKS raceblade, black

I wil try to find a pic but dunno if i have one, because i'm thick like that. It is security marked by the police too! If anyone sees anything matching this description then please, please let me know. As always these things happen at the worst times, I am fucking skint...

Also, any clues whether my best bet is to contact the cycle force directly? I am hackney based, i've read the good stories but can anyone point me to the contact details?

    Cheers...

  • Hey guys,

I bought bike last night in Dalston from a dodgy bloke, it's charge mixer. He was selling it for 60 quid and it was obviously stolen so I bought it in hope it can find it's owner again.
So if its you or you know someone who got their bike stolen yesterday or previous day, hit me up: 07894986667
I'm not asking for any reward or anything but you'd obviously have to pay me those 60 pounds back and give me a good description of said bike.

    thanks!

  • My bikes have been stolen from my flat hall way in Alexandra Park (North London).
Sometime yesterday (Monday 25th Jan 2011)

Tel - zero seven eight one one nine three zero four six nine

    Thank you

    Phil

  • That Dave Quinn is pretty distinctive so hopefully it will get spotted. Keep an eye out in your local area, they sometimes don't move very far at all. Also put your mobile number in the post, so if someone does see it, you don't have to wait to get home and find you have a PM by which time it might have gone.

  • That's a good idea thanks Sumo.

  • my front wheel was stolen today on Haverstock Hill NW3, just outside HSBC.

    only images i have.

its a black Deep V with a Phil wood hub.
as you can see it has marks from the brake.

Im going to check cctv tomorrow, but if anyone spots it please let me know

    07799574386

    thanks,

    ben

  • What a pain in the arse ^^^ I always stick my lock through the front wheel and the frame to stop that happening - not often you hear about rear wheels being stolen

  • but more expensive to replace should it happen surely?
