OK, I'm not quite sure how that happened--we all met up tonight. I actually mis-remembered that it was supposed to be tomorrow, but luckily Ben and Clara did, too!

The game was indeed very easy to pick up and a lot of fun. Totally unexpected outcomes--lots of changes on the last turn, good surprises; not just pointless surprises, but the sort of 'should have seen it coming' kind of surprises. It's really well-balanced and it's fun to see the different paths to winning play out.

We have to do this again, soon--sorry, Dan, I'm not sure I'll be able to meet again tomorrow, but hopefully it won't be too far away. Great pub game, too!

Oh, wow. Good thing I dredged the thread - was about to leave the office.

Loving the game. Agree with what Oliver said, the game is always active, can change any minute. Good pace too. Rules still need a bit of fine tuning (e.g. Everyone starts with a rider), but great to play.

never mind. I have been invited round for steak dinner by a friend, all is not lost! :)

i saw settlers of catan mentioned. classic game. would highly recommend the starfarers of catan. better than settlers? i know many germans would have me for this but: possibly.

am in the pembury, it is a tuesday, there are no games being played (pool and bar billiards notwithstanding). I hear sundays are still games nights although not as busy as they used to be.

Hello there. I'd be game for the next meet - currently trying to get board games back into my life. My preferences are:

For something quick, Abalone, Boggle and Bluff are all good. With a bit more time, the good-looking German ones, Elfenland and Through the Desert (and Carcassone and Catan). And Scrabble played with house rules. Way back in the day we used to love Wildlife Adventures.

For card games, cribbage as a kid, 'dai' at secondary school and proper rummy (a la Rummikub) more recently. And Sechs Nimmt.

Did anyone play Mertwig's Maze? Like the Mysterious Cities of Gold cartoon, I remember it being amazing, but I was rather young and don't dare revisit it.

Welcome. Groll was the name of an FRP character of a friend of mine who (Groll, not my friend) died under suspicious circumstances, so that made me chuckle. I'm always up for a game of Boggle and I have a full Carcassonne.

I thought Staropramen at £3.60 was pretty much par for the course for that area. I liked the pub, slightly too noisy for playing games, but that may just be me with my crap hearing. Unless someone can suggest a better alternative, should we try it again?
