I did heathrow-new york-L.A.-Sydney-Melbourne once cos it was half the price of something more direct. Took twice as long to, superb value for money...

snowing again in my yard.
I'm not being 'street' or channeling my inner rastafarian, it's snowing in the part of my property outdoors at the rear.
Couldn't be arsed going on a ride today, not because it's snowy, but just because I'm not feeling very well.

Blizzard conditions here at Lancaster Circus, Aston Expressway looks relaxingly paced. Looking forward to the ride home!

What you riding? You still got that 'big bmx'?

I'm riding about on an old Kona Humu, single speed, coaster brake on the back, mudguards and rack and a fat tyre on the front:

Nice, good snow bike

Yes. Almost brought it to the last Bham Beers but my antisocial gene kicked in just in time.

^^ nice ride. Just upgraded from 25c slicks to 35c cross tyres, too much fun.

I didn't know they did a Humu' with slidey dropouts. Extraneous top/downtube aside, nice ride.
38c slicks, 30psi rear, 25psi front (I'm obsessive about PSIs), flying through Cannon Hill Park at speeds reaching 20mph* = lots of fun.
*estimated.

5mph for ages across open fields/virgin snow today, really low gear.
Way easier than the streets though, buttery smooth surface under the snow compared with the paths. Only downside was feet getting snowy.Better pix for downtube shifter fetishists.

What do you think of the flare void? Worth the dolla?

• #116
Definitely, 100% good

What do you think of the flare void? Worth the dolla?
Seen at polo last night (danwentskiing's), looks great. Viewable from multiple angles and lots of surface area.

^different product. Void's is an Exposure Flare, mine is a FibreFlare. Both good, in their own ways.

Mine's cheap and uses regular batteries.
I mount it in the rear triangle between the seat stays on the Surly, see pic ^^^^^ but it doesn't work on all frames that way, on my other bike it just kind of sticks out like a weird dongly thing from the seatpost so I only use it on the Surly.
Still awesome, and cheap for a light bright enough for day use. -

What's the weather doing over there at the moment? Fly back tomorrow.
-
• #121
Wet today, sunny tomorrow, few degrees above, snow's long gone
-
• #122
It's been mild and foggy for about a week. All the snow has melted, but it's supposed to be getting a bit colder (around freezing) from tomorrow.
-
• #123
Thanks boys. Catch you soon no doubt!
-
• #124
Snow forecast for Friday, too soon to know for sure but yeah, more snow...

So, can anyone remind me why "common knowledge" is that it's better to ride fixed on ice?
Going on a ride tomorrow, will post pics hopefully
