Oddly I have always worked the other way round, I find a decent shell snowboard jacket pisses all over most cycling specific waterproofs i've ever owned in every regard, other than being reflective.
As others also state, baselayers are a no brainer for both.
I have also boarded in my Swrve hoodie, and it worked pretty well, but only later in the season when it was warmer. No chance i'm relying on it if i'm going backcountry. All depends on your requirements.
