It can be said that you can indeed take an inexpensive suit, get it properly fitted and tailored and you'll have something that is more than passable. The other part of it is not allowing the suit to wear you. Confidence plays a major role in how you carry off a suit.
If it looks shite, then you'll know it looks shite and therefore you'll have an air of shiteness about you, regardless of how much Joop you spray on/drink/bathe in. If it's been adjusted to make it at least look like it's yours and not one you borrowed for an appearance then your job is done.
