I've got the latest version of Microsoft Word, whichever it is - how do I achieve an accent over a letter? I can't find which menu it's under - on older versions I know how to bring up the characters menu, but I'm buggered if I can find it on this. Anyone know? I need to correctly spell Georg Lukacs, with an accent above the 'a'.
Press CTRL plus the respective characters below (including, of course, SHIFT if the character you want is the upper character on the key), then the letter you want (including, of course, SHIFT if the letter you want is the upper case letter):
' for an acute accent;
` for a grave accent;
^ for a circumflex accent;
, for a cédille;
& for German ß;
/ for characters like ø;
: for characters like ä.
There are some other possibilities, but you get the idea. It's a very convenient system. OOo still doesn't have it.
