I saw so many cunts wearing brogues while I was out and about the other day that I think I'll give them a miss... No offence, Neil...

It's a funny one, I've quite liked the idea of a pair for a while, then seen more and more of them in the shops.
Now they are sitting on the table and I'm wondering if I will actually wear them.
Maybe I'll like them again if I put them on.

They will go with my tweed jacket, that said.

that's the problem with fashionable gear; it goes out.

^Those John Whites in TK Maxx are serious bits of kit for the money

True, however I ave been wearing a tweed jacket for the past couple of years now- and that's in no way fashionable, so maybe the shoes will work.
Steve- TK Maxx, Lewisham was where I got them.

Style never goes out. Classic brogues never really look bad

That's the whole point, it isn't fashionable gear, is it? It's Olde English/Jermyn Street gentlemen's clobber... It'll always be stylish...
My old mate Goichi from Kobi couldn't believe his ears when I told him I'd never heard of Tricker's... This was back in the mid 90s, he was on his first trip to London and I had to take him there on his very first day... Fucking hipster... ;] -

where did you get them resoled? Ive got an old pair of those desert treks with a hella worn crepe sole...
I didn't, they're not mine. But Vibram does sell just soles, you'd need to go to somewhere stocking only the soles
and asked them to be fitted to your boots. It's doable. -

^^That's from TK Maxx, tried them on already.

John Whites are made here in Rushden, as well as Grensons .....they may even have a factory shop here, I'm not sure. I know Barker's (about 10 miles away) do have a factory shop...
now, these are cool!.... http://www.grenson.co.uk/glenn-865 -

Exactly. Good quality, hard wearing, Classic clobber for me from now on.

Hence why the weird ones with contrasting soles etc which veer too far from the classic form of the shoe will date as they appear to derive from the multiple/limited colourways trend of modern trainers.
-
• #222
I hear what you're saying, though I don't think they borrow from trainers particularly. If anything, they come from the Ivy League style.

the ones made by trickers will never fall apart. may be they should sell them with black shoe dye for when the trend fades. i really wanted a pair but opted for naval officers white gibson brogues instead. well made and much better value.
tiny vent holes on the instep similar to those found on trainers
