In 2008, almost a quarter of adults (24% of men and 25% of women aged 16 or over) in England
were classified as obese (BMI 30kg/m2 or over).
A greater proportion of men than women (42% compared with 32%) in England were classified as
overweight in 2008 (BMI 25 to less than 30kg/m2)
