In 2008 almost two-thirds of men (66.4%) and more than half of women (59.6%) were overweight (including obese). This represents an increase from 1995 when the figures were 55.6% for men and 47.2% for women. The increase was greater amongst those who were obese (including morbidly obese) where the percentage for men increased from 15.9% to 24.9% between 1995 and 2008 and from 17.3% to 26.5% for women.
