  • Do you miss out on some of the flavour development with shorter cigars?

I can't imagine a situation when I'd have several hours in a smoke friendly environment to smoke a big fella.

Where abouts are you based? If you're in London, you should try and come along to a smoking/drinks session. There hasn't been one for a while, but I'm sure there'll be one soon. There's always time to smoke a big cigar, as long as you don't mind being outside for an hour or so whilst at the pub...

In my limited experience, shorter/smaller cigars are generally stronger in terms of flavour, than longer cigars from the same marca and line. I'm not the right person to be dishing out facts about cigars - especially in an environment that I know to be occupied by people who have a lot more knowledge on the subject than I do... I would however agree that smaller cigars don't develop as much as longer/larger cigars - I'd venture that this is because when you smoke cigars, gases build up inside them, changing the flavours as the cigar smokes - with longer cigars, there is more opporuntiy for this to happen. Cigars are said to have 3 stages to them. As far as I'm aware, that applies to all cigars of all sizes - the development in larger cigars is maybe just more obvious...
