Rest of England team for Greif Masters 2011

Results of a quick search of van-hire costs:

1) Van Hire for something big enough for up to 8 people and bikes £750
2) Diesel £250?
3) Ferry £50

= £130 to £210 each...

positives: road-trip fun, foster team unity, don't have to box bikes, (probably) quicker than train, possibly cheaper than flying,

negatives: 12 hour journey means another day's holiday if we want to get to Karlsruhe by 2pm on the Friday or driving through the night, someone has to pay/take responsibility for the van, 1 or 2 people have to drive, double journey time of plane and not much cheaper

• I only looked at one van quote, so that could be a fair bit out either way, and I'm just guessing about diesel/petrol prices. I can't see the totals being a lot less, though... Roadtrip looks totally impractical, but maybe watching too many American movies makes me want to do it that way, regardless.
