Could be possible, but not for the 1st series.
All Reyn. 531 pg seat tubes take 26.4mm seat posts.
You must be talking about 1990's 525 frames.I am, like I said in my post? ;)

When did the CM's stop getting the butterfly brake bridge? I always thought they were standard right from the beginning. I tried searching!

This was changed around 1980.

I purchased a Champion Mondial ATB a couple weeks ago. It has the full Campagnolo Euclid off road group.
DC, earlier you mentioned only the ladies/step through CM needed another diameter post than 27.2mm. I tend to believe my ATB frame needs 27mm. Am I correct on this? It is built using 531 ATB tubing.

Don't know about the 531 All Terrain, have to look it up in Reynolds documents.
Step though needs a 26.4 mm.
Show some pics of the bike or frame.
Like to know which version it is.
I also have the chance to buy one, but after seeing a picture (see below), I doubt if all the frames were made by Gazelle or if they started using Raleigh (Canada?) frames.
What fork crown does it have: old style, really wide or something resembling a unicrown?
U-brake below chain stays (don't think so with Euclid) or cantibosses on seatstays?
Old style decals or newer style with longitudinal lones over decals ?Did I already tell you that you are a lucky bastard?

My Champion Mondial ATB has the brazed unicrown fork. The mech cables run over the toptube. Indeed cantis at the back, on the seatstays. The frame has 'Gazelle' engraved in stay caps and the dt & st decals are the later Italic ones.
I do not have a pic yet, but it looks nearly identical to this one >>
The bike came with a 27.0mm SR Extra Super Light road post fitted, but that short early 80s post was absolutely not original.
The bike is in very good shape. I am happy to have been able to acquire this. I started my cycling live with mountainbikes. Road caught my interest only a half decade ago. I do have tree Dutch mountainbikes now: this Gazelle, a Zieleman and a Rafty.

I took a look at the mountainbike under the link. It looks very much like the frame in the catalogue. My eye only notices u-brake mounts instead canti, but the catalogue already mentions that u-brake mounts are optional.

Reynolds 531 All Terrain
Wow I never knew there were so many varieties of 531. I always just thought 531 awesome and that was that
SL
C
All Terrain
ProfessionalWhat are the differences between these ? Tube wall thickness / % metals / butted ?

Don't forget SpeedStream, Special (or Super?) Tourist, Magnum, Club Sport and Designer Select. Although the last one is no special sets but a mixture of other 531 sets.
Here are some specs.

http://fivenineclimber.com/bikes/gazelle/misc/reynolds_80.htm
Within the 531 group, the differences are basically the outer diameter, wall thickness and tube shape.
I think all the same material, treatment and manufacturing. If it's another alloy, manufacturing process (e.g. welded tubing)

DC, do you possibly have any idea how many were made of those Champion Mondial ATB-frames per year?

About 10 in total during a couple of years ?
Max 20 pcs, I guess. Some bikes were made for photoshoot (catalogue) and for local pre sales shows.
But these could have been re-used from year to year.
Finally some of these show bikes (or frames) were sold to dealers.Actual purchase orders from consumers via dealers were close to nill.
So, let's forget talking about "quantities" (which makes it more attractive for collectors, of course). How about the Euclid stuff? Still in good condition?
Covers of the shifters broken, as most shifters?
SimplexNL (John) snapped a bargain Peugeot with Euclid from just under my nose/hands. The bastard. -

That is not much!
My frame is exactly the same as the one pictured above, but I can't really discover the 'Gazelle' engraving in the stay cap. Hmm... except for that I would almost think it is my frame than. Blame pic bluryness?
I would think the ATB's can be considered among the rarest Champion Mondials than? Next to maybe ever rarer gems like the 'Aerodynamische racefiets', Tandem, Stayer and so on.
The Euclid is mint as well. I do not think the bike is moved much. Anyway not off road. The Euclid shifter and rear mech are replaced by GripShift SRT600 and a STX mech at some point. I will replace them by period correct XT thumbies and XT mech, as they are the bits that simply outperform the Campag counterparts hands down. I have a long cage Chorus mech and it would visually match okay, but that one destinied to go with a Centaur group on the Zieleman. The Zieleman frame is NOS, so I have a bit fear to make a start with it to be honest. It is kind of pity to touch a NOS frame.
Imo the interesting Campagnolo off road groups are RecordOR, Icarus, Centaur, Euclid. You really want to avoid the Olympus with the plasticy optics.

Mine - the seller claimed GVT rode it in the TdF - but I have no evidence to back this up, other than there is no reason to suspect it is a 'fake'.
I do still have it... I bought it as frame, forks and (slightly bizarrely) a Shimano 105 front derailleur still attached. Literally nothing else. Had I bought it built up 'properly' I would not have changed her.
Guys,
he's GJT not GVT. Gert rode his first TdF for TVM in 1991 (before 1991 he rode for PDM who rode Concorde) the framesets used by TVM in both the 1991 and 1992 TdFs were Zullos not Gazelles. GJT did not ride for TVM in the 1993 TdF, but TVM did ride Gazelles in the 1993 edition.
Just a few facts for you guys.

Lovely.
Why to sell? -
• #746
In case this is of use ,1986 Gazelle brochure indicates 531 Trophy frames as having 26.6 seat-tube.
-
• #747
I think that's why there's always a disclaimer like "errors and omissions...etc..."
IMHO it's 26.4 mm -
• #748
spec for the 86 Tour de l'Avenir says "Zadelpen Selle Royal 26.6" so perhaps they reamed it out?
