The picture he's writing about is 'Untitled' by Félix González-Torres, which appeared as a billboard poster in San Antonio in 1996.
Many thank to all posters above. I'm sure my mate would happily buy all concerned a drink.... but for simplicity it might be easier if I just drank on your behalf, it being Christmas and all?
