  • seeing as you hate kids, all toys are irretrievable to you.

  • So are Karlsruhe picking London/England captains or are there going to be nominations/polls?

  • Forming the Teams:
Every country has 1 week to tell us a captain (we don't care about the process). If a country can't find a captain, we choose one out of the country for them.

    Read, motherfuckers!

Clearly, we need people to nominate themselves to run as captain/manager. Then make a list of people for a draft.

(Are we (london) going to have non playing managers?)

  • I nominate myself, but as I won't be here I'll have to get a Skype connection going.

Failing that, each player would have to open their sealed envelopes, if anyone had questions about the instructions inside they'd be off the team.

Non-playing manager London, massive advantage, mark my words.

    +100

  • I'm not sure I can afford, but if anyone wants to pay my flight / hotel I'll be non playing manager. I'll even wear a camel coat :)

  • If there are people interested in coaching rather than playing, it might be an idea to have an 'application' thread where interested parties can post their polo cv. I remember people interested in the draft for the NYC Bench Minor having to do something like that. Maybe in LPC for London team, main forum for England?

yeah and a draft thread. Good idea

  • fuck. really would've loved to go (or i guess tried to go), but family is in town then. dammit.

  • Anyone who's up for coaching should put there name up and say whether they'd want to play or just coach.

Max started a draft thread somewhere, as well.

  • I think it's a shame the Karlsruhe tournament has switched format.
It was such an awesome tourney last year and I was hoping to come back with Cosmic and improve on previous performance.

    Everyone's going BM crazy.
I need to play with my team more...

  • FYI

    Train from:
    LDN > KHL
    leaving Thurs 3/2/11
    returning Mon 7/2/11
    £113.25

  • can't access draft page! Bastards Brits kicked me out of their community.
Also can one try to be in 2 drafts...?

  • Ha! No..

    I agree on both counts.

What the fuck is a bench minor? Not bike polo. Maybe the London tourney Max was going to organize should be a radball tourney instead.

  • @Yorgo

    Frenchy bullshit!

  • Ha! No..

You going for the London or England draft then?

  • You going for the London or England draft then?

Well I think I qualify for both but probley get in to none so doesn't really matter!

  • ^bullshit dude, you'd be in both of mine.

  • Great idea Karlsruhe.
Loved GM last year. But it looked impossible to make the same thing again, with way more 3 players teams who want to come, and one court.

Bench minor style is a great way of playing polo. Don't understand people who complainning about it.

I've got an idea for the swiss players selection:

Idea of selection process for the Greif Masters 2011 (4-6 feb. in karlsruhe):

1)In a few day (limit fixed on this friday for example), Every intersted player in going to this tourney announ himself (like the actual listing). But he puts also more informations about :
-his experience: since how long he's (or she) playing polo. Number of tourney played. What ranking in this tourney.
-his play style: defensive, offensive, scorer, goal keeper, etc... One good quality and one weak point.

2)Then, when the number of players interested is know, for example 20 people, each people make his on list of 9 players for his favorite team. He pick up his own dream team, based on the informations people give and his affinities. The tenth player is himself.

He put an asterix in front of the name of the capitain that he wants. For Organizers, it have to be a player. But we can imagine that the team select after the draft is over a outside coach, who don't play, but manage the team.

2*) If there is some draw between players, we can ask the captain to make choice. Or revoting on the draw people list.

This system works well in my opinion, way more than any other kind of system. Every player can vote, make the team he want.

    What do you think?

  • To me, that's not a good idea.

You'll have a captain who will have to manage a team that he might have not chosen entierely ...

I think many captains won't necesserely choose the 10 best players, but the 10 players who make the best and most complementary team.

Managing is something difficult. Managers will be responsible for the result of their teams, so it's look better to me if the managers can choose the players adapted to the way they want the team play.

    count it

  • Yeah this sounds fruity...never experienced Greif

  • count it

    definitely, spot on greg.
