  • I'll see if the police are back out looking for witnesses on my way home.
If there's any update I'll post up when I get home.

  • Beware of such news borne by police. I fell for this again recently even through I knew better. It may be true but I sincerely hope not. In any event, better to wait for official confirmation.

It's times like this you hope the Police do have it wrong. Fingers crossed.

  • Terrible news.

Big respect for all the involved in calling the ambulance and comforting the trapped girl.

  • The police were not at the scene when I rode past, I hope the office was incorrect.
My thoughts are still with both the cyclist and her loved ones.

  • There's been a few cases where the police have announced it wrong. Fingers crossed this is another one. Hang on in there lady cyclist.

  • Passed this on my way in this morning, I really hope the information is wrong.

All my thoughts go out to the rider and her loved ones.

  • She is still alive in a serious and life threatening condition in intensive care.

  • good(ish) news

    hope she pulls through.

    vasbyt bokkie!

  • She is still alive in a serious and life threatening condition in intensive care.

where did you hear this info, pls?
    (relatively) good news if true

  • Shit.. RIP - I came up behind this just after it had happened could see the woman underneath the truck, she had lots of help and various people aiding her so I took solace in the fact it was 'just her legs' and that she would be ok..

this is the 4th one I've seen in six years, I cant remember where I read this but someone posted it a few years ago - "ride every road like its the first time" and It goes through my mind before getting on the bike. That junction is a mess and I have had several cars cross into my path not signaling from the far right lane trying to get up Edgeware Rd, a sharp punch on the passenger window lets them know your there but that woman had no chance with that armoured truck.

    Ride safe everyone.

  • oh wait? I really hope the fatality reports are wrong!

  • Hang on in there. This is terrible news.

Chap who helped her out and phoned the ambulance your a hero.

  • Sitting here in floods of tears, how many more?
    This situation is not right!

    +1 very sad :(

  • i hope to god she pulls through. i read this thread with so much hope, and now i have tears rolling down my face. please please let her be ok.

concerned, i was in a similar position to this girl just over 2 years ago. i cannot tell you how much the support and care of strangers meant to me and how much it calmed and helped me. i am now still in touch with the person who held my hand until the paramedics arrived.he came to visit me in hospital twice and it was amazing to see him again. i think it helped him to see me alive too. i know that sounds mushy, but it's hard to explain how you feel about the people who have helped in such a traumatic situation.

  • horrible news RIP

    wait what, she die?

edit - second pages revealed she's alive, so glad to hear this, very frustrating reading all these 'RIP' thinking she passed away.

  • Maybe we need a new forum rule. No RIPing until confirmed from a reliable source. Which is not the po po.

I guess we were all just scared that she had died.

Sounds like she has had some pretty horrendous and life changing injuries. Repair in peace! I'm not a religious man but feel strangely compelled to pray for her recovery.

  • Shocking news. I hope she pulls through.
That junction is one of the most dangerous in London

I think that would be a good idea, but I'm not sure it's necessary or how easy it would be to keep it.

Yes, the sense of relief you can feel if you hear that someone doesn't die is more than a little tempered by such absolutely horrific injuries. It takes a long time to recover from even non-life-changing injuries, and it sounds as if the injuries she has are injuries from which she won't recover, if she survives. You may feel 'compelled to pray' because one feels so helpless in that situation. Indirectly, there's a lot you can do to help campaign that such incidents become fewer (they're not going to stop completely).

  • Hi. Like the guy who called the ambulance, I also came across this forum trying to find out more information about how the woman was doing. I was one of the cyclists who was with her until the ambulance arrived. It was horrendous and completely shocking.
I confirmed the update on here with police this morning and the last update they had was that she was in a critical condition, although obviously the details they can give out are extremely limited.
If information from 'zwanzig20' is reliable, I will keep an eye out for any further updates on here.

  • It must have been a terrible experience for you. If you read Jemjah's post though you will know just what a great thing you did in helping and comforting the injured cyclist. We can all only hope that she recovers.

  • This is awful news. Well done everyone who did their upmost to comfort her.

Thoughts and prayers are with her this evening.

  • really hope she pulls through, be strong
