I had lunch yesterday with a good friend who lost her leg below the knee in a bike accident about 18 months ago. I'm currently helping her get back on two wheels, modifying prosthetic/cleats etc.
Her one biggest regret (apart from going under a transit van in the first place) is that she hadnt been able to thank the people who sat with her in the road holding her hands until help arrived and the person who called the ambulance in the first place. She is certain that their kindness saved her life (and her other leg). As I said, be proud of yourself.
