• Finally made it to Scherrit & Corinne's for my fitting.
Ed's review is pretty bang on, like a chat with (extremely well informed) mate, except that he tinkers with your shoes, saddle and stuff, rather than drink beer:-)

Though I've done a lot of riding, raced as a schoolboy and junior and worked in the bike trade into my early twenties (back in the day now...) I have been struggling with my cleat position and power transfer down my left leg for quite a while and had not come up with an answer. Scheritt's solution, which was counter to all my earlier training, I was taught the old KOPS (knee over pedal spindle) approach, made a huge difference and involved moving my the ball of my foot past the pedal spindle nearly 10mm.

I just would never have gone there and so would never have got to the fix without his help. It's amazing what 5-10mm adjustments do!

My saddle went up and forward about the same.

My feet feel a lot more planted as a result and my pedal stroke is on the way to becoming straighter (I had been pulling my knees out at the top of the stroke)

It all felt a bit weird as I set off but I have rarely been so happy to have 20 miles to ride home.
As I settled down spinning felt more comfortable and putting the hammer down there was a surprisingly big change, more than I had expected for sure:-)

Well he sure knows his stuff and the price is incredibly reasonable when you figure I spent over three hours with him and I needed relatively little done (no bars or stem changes etc)

And love the dog! Corinne reminded me not to step on him as he was hidden in a blanket keeping warm.

    Finally, one question:
Replacement Sidi Dominator cleat plates (inside the shoe), where do you get the from?
Mine are on the way out and SPD one don't fit inside the shoe and the holes aren't deep enough:-|

    Yikes, bedtime

    Cheers,

    Ivan
