I went and saw the Arbor last night. An absolute brilliant bit of British film based on the life of playwrite Andrea Dunbar. A kind of doccumentary/biography that is set on an estate in Bradford. It is GRIM beyond a doubt and makes you so thankful for what you have. Its a bit similar to the Fishbowl that came out last year, but its done so much better. All of the actors lip sync to words that were recorded during interviews. Its hard to explain, but its bloody brilliant. 8.5*

**I quite liked Unthinkable, it's shame it didn't do well in the US, so it went straight to DVD here. Way better than other movies I have seen in the cinema recently.

me too.
this week highlights, and not necessarily good films, "carriers" "legion" "unthinkcable" "Zombieland" and "daybreakers"
any recomendations out there?
-
• #1262
Daybreakers was better than I thought it was going to be. A new spin on the vampire lore, and quite watchable. Legion again watchable, nothing amazing just a good action story. Zombieland was pretty damn good, one of the best comic zombie movies without doubt. Not heard of Carriers until now will check it out.

Just watched Inception after mixed review on here.
Rather like it (so did the missus), quite nice to see all the characters getting involved as much as the main characters.
Did not like the winter mountain scene, felt a bit OTT (but then 3rd layers is OTT), could've done it differently but it's my only criticism.

I saw this yesterday and really enjoyed it, all the more because he managed to shoot it on a reported 15 grand budget! Watch the clip in the link, proper guerilla film making at its best! Anybody else seen it yet?
Best,

Bought Two IMAX tickets for first day of Tron, best seats. Just been booked for a job. Need money. Now all the good seats have been booked for ages! Ah well.
On a side note, Clara and I have gone halves on a projector for our Christmas present. Fuck it is so worth it.

Looking forward to Monsters. And Super8, on the other end of the Hollywood scale.

I'm aware of these films

face off was dreadful IMHO, I have no idea why its popularity persists. I watched for the first time this year, always having been under the belief that i was missing out some how via its absence from my consciousness. I finished it and spent the following 5 months attempting to invent time travel in a vain attempt to warn myself off watching ITV4 that evening and some how reclaim those 140 mins of my life.

Face/Off is indeed ballbags.

'Ice Cold in Alex' is on Dave Ja Vu atm, first saw it as a child and I have loved it ever scince. Aboslutly wonderful war film.. Fantasic cast John Mills, Sylvia Syms, Anthony Quayle and Harry Andrews.
what I love is that in the bar scene in Alexandria, John Mills was drinking real beer because ginger ale and other substitutes didn't look real enough on film. In the final cut (the 14th take) he actually was quite drunk.
does anybody know what movie is this one?
