It's like giving someone an axe, they will go waving it about even if there are no logs to split.
More than half the merges are unnecessary, as are I suspect some of the thread title changes.
Merging threads that are essentially duplicates, OK. But actively seeking out and merging threads that happen to have the same word in the title just seems like making work for yourself.
If there's such a shortage of space, then the user merge is the way to go, hello to member "Buffalo Schick" and his grammatically correct childish puns about couriers and bike polo.
