I want to get some tights with a pad for winter, not really into bibs. I've seen giordana do a nice pair but are these warm? Any other recommendations?
Also, I was wondering about layering. Should one wear tights or Merino leggings above or underneath padded shorts?
A short list that I compiled, as I'm in the market for some:
I seriously recommend bibs, as they are far more comfortable and overlap nicely with your top layer. If you get a winter weight pair, made from super roubaix or something similar (fleece lined lycra). Then a merino under layer should'nt be needed. I quite like the type with wind protection, but this does usually stiffen the tight.

Those shouty ones Planet-x are selling look like good value. Decent pad and super roubaix fabric.

They do two, but I cant tell the difference in the pads.
These campag raytechs look good. But Im not sure what Vuelta fabric is. Is it the same as super roubaix?

Like the design of these Northwaves.

Sportful NO RAIN seems like a nice idea, but I'm a bit sceptical.

IXS Dorado claim to be windproof and water proof.

Currently at the top of my list, but might be overkill for the UK
