We also have an indoor court (40x20m)in Eindhoven if that helps.
It has a courtside cafebar which serves drinks and snacks

Taka, can we use that for the whole weekend??

Okay!
@Max & @all European Polo people:
What do you think about this?Greif Masters 2011 will be the European Bench Minor.
Facts: We just had a meeting with the "Messe Karlsruhe".
We will have the same place as last year for 3 days (4.-6.2.)
They built us the barriers. Courtsize: Bigger than last year. What do you think about doing this in Karlsruhe?
P.S.: They told us that they will clean the floor several times a day - That means it won't be that slippery.

Thankyou both Taka and Hannes and Clement, you guys are awesome for offering to help. I'd really like to get this done in London in January and i'm going to keep trying to find a space. But all are good solutions.
However, Hannes, as much as i love the Bench minor format. I think it would be a real shame if one of the biggest staple "real" polo tournaments of the year, like the Greifmasters was turned into a Bench minor. I mean its up to you guys, but, personally, i think it would be sad to lose such an epic tournament from our calendar.
Let's get this bench minor done somewhere though! -

I concur with Max. Keep KH as 3 man polo tourney.

Agree with Max re: K'ruhe. Had such an awesome time last year I'd be afraid to see anything change!

too. many. options. all. sound. so. awesome.

I think everybody is itching to have a proper Bench Minors with all Europa involve...
I agree that last year the Greifmasters was amazing, but why this years been a BM type of tourney will not be amazing too?If we could pull this in GVA or Eindhove, them the Greifmasters could be a 3 man touerny again...
Max, the intention very excellent, but you have to think that for january everybody will have to take tickest with very sort notice, maybe good idea start thinking in doing in Feb

As the Messe Karlsruhe again offers us only one court (we expected 3, and earlier they said that's not a problem), we more and more like the idea of doing Greif Masters 2011 as a (or the) Bench Minor.
And Greif Masters 2012 would be a proper 3vs3 again. With more then only one court.
I think it's impossible to do the Greif Masters as a 3vs3 with only one court.
This year we already had 40 teams, we played the tourney on Friday already and we only had 8 minute games...H

will you wash the court with cola?

Good point about the courts. Didn't think about that. Although I didn't mind the 8 minute games. They ended up making for some really exciting polo (people played hard and quick from the second they heard "polo").

let's face it, bench minor style format is the future.
I'm not interested in the draft, what is interesting to me is 6 man teams, one manager. That's the tourney I want to see.

seeing spoons in a camel coat is the future, thats what I want to see.

the situation looks like this. the trade fair karlsruhe is offering only one court. a little bit bigger than last year as hannes said. as you all could see in the past last year, it will no longer be possible to play bigger tournaments with only one court. everybody who has been in karlsruhe last year knows that the surrounding is not really that spectacullar (for example we don't have a lake like geneva or something else you can spend your free time). everybody who's coming to any tournament wants to play as much as possible. (i don't speak fo l'equipe because they do play every tourney as much games as possible - damit).
so, if we again make the greifmasters with only one court, games will, or have to be limited to 8 minutes because on the other hand we like to invite as much peope as possible. for me it's importand to play as much as possible and keep the time between the games as short as possible.
hannes calculated, for example, that, if we are inviting 7 or 8 teams around europe and every team is playing every team 2 x 20 min. it could be 5 hrs something for each team to play.
what sound not too bad.i think we will discuss the situation again this week because times running out.

Kind of agree.
If K have only one court, then BM is a good solution... -
• #148
That's why we decided to make a bench minor tournament for the BFF in Paris. One court is not enought if you really want to play polo.
So it's only small tournament (invitational) or BM.

Am I missing something here?
If there is only one court, and only 3 players are allowed on the court for each team, how is BMs going to mean more court time for the same number of players than 3 man teams? If the amount of court time is finite, as far as I can see, the only way you can increase the amount of court time for each attending player is if you reduce the number of players.
Can someone explain this to me? Apologies if I am being dense.

For the same number of player:
1) a BM of 2 teams of 10 players each make 20 people into the game, even if that's not always playing on court, it involve people way more than 6 players.
2) If the format is something like: group game between the maximal number of teams, then only semi-> finals, you play more than if youre 3p teams don't get trought group games, and only watch quarts-semi-finals.
