You don't need snow bike, just an MTB with big enough clearance for the fattest tyres between 2.35-2.5, run it at 10psi and you'll be fine, as for ice, there's no tyres in the world that offer better grip on ice, apart from studded one of course.
Was pretty good riding on my tyres, it's no Pugsley, but it grip the snow a lots better than skinny tyres, a la this;
