so i'm looking for a nice, shiny, 1inch threadless headset that's not too expensive. is there any reason why i shouldn't get this?

It may be harder to find a shiny one like that, if your desperate for a shiny one it may be worth finding the same model in the UK, it will be cheaper.

I'd be all over this if I had my bike on-hand to see if it's JIS or ISO :(

According to Sheldon JIS was used on older low/mid range Jap bikes. Almost everything else was ISO so this probably wont be suitable for most.

Ah Sheldon. When my days are over, I look forward to having a pint and a scoob with Sheldon, Fiddy and Bon Scott, and thanking them for their contributions to mankind.

Have you tried finding that, or any other, 1" headset in silver, let alone shiny? Also, the TK1161 is not a cheap headset, they do <£20 headsets but the TK1161 is their mid range model with the same angular contact cartridge bearings as integrated headsets, not the balls/needle rollers found in cheap ones.
On the other hand, you could have Campag for £50 BIN if you're shopping on the bay

Hit the BIN first and measure later if you are alright with the price. BIN format gives you 7 days to return the product hence it is risk free.

All Gazelle Champion Mondial, Trophy and Formula frame sets left the factory with 27.0mm crown diameter.
So, ready for JIS head set.Milled/faced with Campy tool to 26.4mm, you could install an ISO head set.
True: many cheaper bikes were delivered with 27.0 crown race
True: most hi end frames/forks were cut down to 26.4 mm.
But it doesn't say that all bikes with 27.0 mm are cheap and all bikes with 26.4 are expensive.
It's just a personal choice. Not so much to do with quality standards.
Similar to BC or Italian BB thread. -

Afforable and nice Dura Ace EX / AX
Cranks come with extra adapters for pedals with regular threads. -

Postage is pricey and there is the risk of tax.

If anybody in the UK actually had one, yes. I checked all the usual sources and some of the abnormal ones, and couldn't find it. 1" headsets are a minority interest item, silver ones also. UK RRP seems to be about £35, but you might have a long wait to get one ordered in to your LBS, or worst case with tax and shipping get it for £44 from BrinVO in Taiwan.

So, ready for JIS head set.Late sixties mid-range Carltons, early eighties Holdsworthy things, and 'top end' (?) late eighties Raleigh mountain bikes too. Hours of fun.
Rare indeed. I think it's the same time as they release their magnesium and oiled damped shock range, but PISTA and FIXIE? LOL!
