True enough and fair point about the expense, coupled with a reduced appetite for what I'd normally spend my money on in that environment.
Did you ever come across these babies?

Bring out the gimp, you had to be one hard b'stard to swan around in a full set of those.

I quite like the look of Buffalo stuff. Have to find one in the shop to check out the finish and feel.
Looks like a nice jacket for city riding when you do too many stops (ie. do chores and run errands) and can't warm up enough for merino jersey to suffice. -

Will the tormtroopers be unleashed if I ask why they no longer have any Rapha rip off stuff for sale?
-

Threaders - it doesn't work!
EEI - it's well worth a look, there's usually some cheap on eblag too. Think about what you're going to do with it, and get the right thickness in the range though, or you'll boil on a bike in all but the coldest days. However, ideal for cutting about town I'd say.

Try to buy anything and it's all out of stock.

Just got bought this for my birthday. Sweet. I'm in the Rapha club. Off to do an epic walk to the shops now.

Nice meringue lamp shade too.

My girlfriend just said, angrily, that she paid £40 at Habitat for that.

Personally I think her flat looks like an explosion at a furniture shop.

I saw a fellow in on of those this morning on the commute.
His rattly bike, fluro backpack and bandy-kneed riding style screamed "unsophisticated nodder" whilst the Paul Smith Rapha jersey whispered "creme de la creme". In my view, the nodder gear was winning the shouting match. -

And now imagine the same jersey on handsome me, on my fine vintage road bike with my fine leather man bag and Paul Smith wooly hat. Win! Loadsa sexy time.

What am I? Chopped liver?
You never get enough snipers at race events in my experience. Usually leads directly to my not winning Jack Schidt.
Yes, I'm very much in the "any fool can be uncomfortable" camp now when it comes to suffereing with shite kit. Especially when riding for a few hours below zero. Can even make the price of a pair of Assos winter bibs seem less of an outrage.
