It's hypothetical, just one of those questions which popped into my head; assuming that it is generally preferable for men to predecease their wives, since women seem to cope better with the death of a partner, what age difference would be needed to give a probability of, say, 0.99 that this would happen? Ignore any special conditions, just take the average mortality rates for the local population for the time being.
