Hi all, I'm a postgraduate journalism student and am writing an article on the bike muggings in De Beauvoir. If anyone lives in the area could you please pm me in 24hrs (when my account is active). Also, would Dommyracer, Chukker and Khornight2 get in contact? I would love to write about your patrol group!
I'll be in touch directly once my account is verified.
Cheers,
Shy -

Ha! Chukker has no patrol group. He's all talk, no hammer.
I have started avoiding DBT when coming home from polo. Means I have to go down southgate and downham to get whitmore road and then pitfield. Pain in the ass. Fucking punks.
(I give you permission to use this very exciting story in you article).

You can use my story of how I got followed home one night when I lived in Mortimer Road and had the fuck kicked out of me on my doorstep for my mobile phone and ipod if you like.
Luckily for them or me, I was drunk and completely unable to retaliate. Cowardly motherfuckers, needless to say there was more than one of the Cts, fg co*si fa****daad dsoidjiosjc8dd!!!*XXXXXXXXX -

shyjourno you may want to bear in mind that a lot of the posts on here are very tongue in cheek...
Someone putting their name down for a vigilante group is not an indication of their serious intent to do so or that they necessarily live in the area!

This is the Met's crime map for the area for personal robbery by the way. Red = high. Gives you an idea of the area worth avoiding, but to put it in perspective bustling Dalston is also red, albeit for different reasons.

Crime map is interesting. Never knew Southgate was all that bad. Kingsland can be a bit shady up Dalston way, but didn't know it was any more so than other areas around that part.
The Barbour remark made me laugh. Originally, though, I read "walking labradors" as "waxing labradors" and for one crazed moment my brain conjured a petrifying toff-faced human-hound hybrid with waxed cotton for skin.

Shoot I'm going to have to start avoiding my own home. I live smack bang in the middle of that red spot. and what was once a "nice" area...pffffffft....still is.
This map does not really mean anything. naughty little kids hang out everywhere and anywhere - all over London.

I often wax my labrador/Springer Spaniel cross - it gives her a lovely glossy coat and I very rarely have to wash her after walks.

The patches are 'super output areas' - the smallest areas possible for analysis.
One crime or a series of crime, even relatively small in number, can bump an area up. This area is probably red because of the cycle muggings. Don't have nightmares!

The Barbour/dogs comment is spot on by the way, I live in the blue upside down triangle at the top of the map and went to the Scolt Head a few months ago, it's a nice pub but I couldn't believe how posh it was. Lots of little posh dogs, barbour jackets and fancy hair dos.

you'd think the scrotes would make more readies kidnapping dogs.

The most popular polo court is right at the bottom of Ufton. We've never had any bother. Doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of crimes happening, though.

'tis a nice pub, but considering how big it is, there's fuck all places to actually sit and have a beer.
You're not allowed in the restaurant bit unless you eat, and unless you want to sit in the 'sports cave' you have to sit outside or at one of the 3 tables for 'just having a drink'.

HA!
I don't disagree with that--my point is that it's a lazy an ignorant usage.
Of course they say it, just not as often as using 'traffic' for 'motor traffic'.
Of course, but change for the better can happen. Take reclaiming the word 'gay' (or "schwul" in German). Take people paying more attention to feminine grammatical phenomena when speaking of women. It's not about control, but influence.
