have I broken the rules somehow? Went to post an ad and for the first time I have been told it needs to be approved by a moderator before it appears?! That's never happened before...

Tons of images in it, it triggered the spam system and hence it sends it to me to check it.
It's approved, but note that if you edit the first post later it's likely to trigger the spam system again (it's a slow-learner).

I have a question, is it OK to resurrect another users very old classified ad, that seems to have died, to offer your own same items for sale?
Or is it best to start a new thread?

Start a new thread

Duuno if it's my age or what.
I want to post an add for something I advertised on another site last week. I'm not clear if I can post it here now? -

Rules are here.

Personally I think it's fine to post it here if you've advertised it elsewhere and not sold it. Some of our more officious members might disagree though.

Afternoon andy, hows the Winter panning out? I'm out on the third trial Sunday. At some point tomorrow I'm gonna have one hell of a tailwind.

I think if you failed to gain interest on the other site then give it a little time between posting it on here. Personally I'd give it another week or remove the ad from the other site.

Will do. Had a look with a view to removing it, but couldn't work out how. Rubbish aren't I.

What to do if sold item seems to have been lost in the post?
Its been about 2 weeks and just a few quid worth so I'll refund if its the easiest thing to do, but just wanted to know the guidance on this.
Thanks! -

Is there any appropriate thread for selling on-behalf? A friend of mine needs to shed her fairly nice, small frame road bike before leaving the UK for good in a few weeks. Don't want to spam but she's in a bind.

Set her free then.

Oh DK... Be nice...

Why doesn't Hilary Stone advertise here anymore? Is it because he has his own site?

Question:
Its known that I don't approve of aliases on this site, and here's another reason. What if someone, or people, created aliases mainly for showing interest in their own sales threads. It would be bumping without any price drop, or change in the sale item. It happens alot on ebay, and many former ebay sellers have found this a useful place to sell fg/ss gear. Maybe the tactic might be brought over also?
Seems very likely to me.

There is a fantastically simple way for this not to be a problem. It applies to ebay sales too.
**As a buyer – do your research, decide what the item is worth to you. Offer/bid that. Then don't move from it.
**
It's a recipe for stress free bidding/buying. You never feel like you paid too much. You don't get drawn into other peoples decision making.^ sorry if it sound patronising but a friend explained this to me a couple of years ago. He instantly saved me a Saturday morning checking phone and laptop. He was all kinds of right!

You are missing the principle. I don't use the classifieds, so it isn't much of an issue to me at all. BUT, I believe that some people are improperly bumping their own sales, so more people see it. This is not allowed, unless something, like the price, has changed. But this bumping is done simply by using an alias. People may not be ripped off at all, but its against forum rules.

No way round it really is there?
A 1p drop in price to bump a selling thread?
Technically it is a a price drop but 1p is just a mockery.
I guess it warrant an advisory or a footnote to the bumping rule to clear this?
