  • 30p sounds good... JE James are 35p.

  • Cyclebasket are cheap, but their flat rate p+p can make small buys more expensive than elsewhere.

  • RE: Big freewheel sprockets. Anybody tried the Diamondback ones that SJS are selling? 20t...

  • spa is the cheapest but you have to pay postage (and they only have weird sizes)
so winstanley win it (free delivery)

  • It's just a case of getting the right length, Cycle Basket have most lengths in the Sapims... I know their postage is a bitch, but I need a cheap headset for the beater anyway... ;]

  • RE: Big freewheel sprockets. Anybody tried the Diamondback ones that SJS are selling? 20t...

I think Dicta are the same as Diamond Back right? In which case yes, that's what I have on my bike. It's adequte... nothing more. Silent when I bought it, four or five months later it's started making a ticking sound. Probably not a whole lot of life left in it but cost about £12.

  • the big thing with freewheels is they have nothches to remove form the hub. The CHeap ones like Dicta and LIPA (or something liek that) can NOT be remove and need to be fuck to take from the hub. The White Industries and Shimanos, have notches and can be remove.

  • White Industries for life... the 22t even lets you swap spokes out without removing it, win.

  • Just built a 48h front wheel with Alpine spokes (not impressed with the Halo own-brand ones on my pre-build rear). Can't decide to run with or without wheel-covers. Anyone have experience/an opinion?

  • front? for polo? always disc. that is my personal opinion.

  • I've always been happier with a disc, but only for increasing durability. If the spokes are going to be strong enough to keep the wheel straight, I'd prefer to run without discs. I usually drive to where we play polo, and it's annoying unbolting my wheel every time I put my bike on my car-rack as the wheel cover obscures the brake light.

  • you are anwsering your on questions

  • What I'm asking is, are Alpine spokes significantly tougher than Competition?

  • Shouldn't make much difference if it's on the car rack...

    Sorry if I've missed something...

  • nokon kit just arrived, not sure it's going to be long enough as I don't have cable stops, balls.

  • You'd be surprised... I think I lost my spare bits otherwise I'd pass them over.

  • put normal cable along the length of the toptube, between oilers. done.

  • Will that be ok sans cable stops? It's tempting to get some of the clamp on ones to reduce cable friction but they ar £12 each and I'd need 2.

  • front? for polo? always disc. that is my personal opinion.

+1 everyone should have front discs #ilikemytoes
